Around eleven years ago, a boy and a girl took a second chance on a childhood romance. Like many kids their age, they went through a period of dating before taking some time apart. Most never seem to find their way back, whether it’s due to change in personality or simply broken hearts. At best, their brief encounter can be chalked up to experience. However, there does seem to be the occasional couple that can somehow withstand the ebb and flow of both time and individual growth. Their story grabs the hearts of many because it contains both commitment and grit. Both are tremendous qualities that inspire and challenge. This is the story of Matthew and Jessica.
My wife and I have known Jessica’s family for a number of years. Our lives intersect in different ways, both personally and professionally. I honestly never envisioned the day when I would be photographing Jessica on her wedding day…but here I am…and I feel so incredibly honored!
It seems like just yesterday I was getting to know this amazing young couple during their engagement session. I knew ahead of time that Matthew was going to be a little camera shy. I get it! I am a totally different man behind the camera than in front of it. But watching Matthew with Jessica revealed the honesty and simplicity of their relationship. This is why I love doing what I do! I get to witness firsthand the gift that two people have found in each other.
It was an absolute JOY to be with Matthew and Jessica on their wedding day! They were married at the beautiful Pillars Event Center in our hometown of Taylorville, Illinois. The Pillars combines both traditional and contemporary styles, making it feel comfortable and cozy without being too spread out. The light was incredible, the couple was insanely beautiful, and I witnessed perhaps the sweetest and most tender father-of-the-bride reveal.
I have photographed dozens of brides in my years of business and all are uniquely stunning in their own rightful way. Jessica’s Maggie Sottero gown however, really knocked it out of the park! The organza, ivory over pearl gown was adorned with beaded lace and beautiful Swarovski crystals. Breathtaking is an understatement!
The entire day was such an honor to be a part of. From the moment I walked in the door to the end of the night when we hugged goodbye, I loved being there. I love capturing beautiful images of GORGEOUS people but really, what I loved even more was watching Matthew and Jessica experience such a huge milestone in their relationship.
Matthew and Jessica, you are an incredible couple. Your love for one another and for other people was shining so brightly throughout your entire wedding day. I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be the one to save the memories of your big day!!!! Enjoy!!
A special thanks to The Pillars Coordinator, Lori Cocagne and Golden Arrow Productions for their videography!
